Model Advice
Until
recently,
if you wanted to become a model you would have signed up with
a modelling agency or model agent. Although this is
still the way that many people make choose to start and
progress a career in modelling with the introduction of the
internet we are seeing more and more people becoming
independent models.
The main difference in becoming
an agency model and an independent model is that an agency
model has chosen an ‘agent’ who finds and assigns them
modelling work (obviously the agent takes a percentage of the
overall earnings - that is how they make their money) and an
independent model represents and seeks work for themselves.
The advice pages listed opposite are designed to provide you
with valuable advice and guidelines for working in the
industry.
As there are fundamental
differences in becoming an agency model vs independent model some of
the advice pages offer separate guidance for both approaches.
This section will
provide you with some information and thoughts that may help
you decide on whether you would like to pursue
your
ambitions of becoming
a model and,
if you feel you
have what it takes, to choose what styles you would like
to become
involved in and help you figure out whether you are best suited
as an agency or independent model.
